The UK festival season is sadly coming to a close, and as the nights draw in, we’re incredibly excited to sign off the summer this weekend (7-10 September) at Bestival.
Bestival has moved to its new home at Lulworth Estate in Dorset, which means no more ferrying to and from The Isle of Wight. While everyone’s busy planning fancy dress for theme of colours, here are the acts we’re raving over other than headliners Justice, The xx, Roots Manuva, The Pet Shop Boys and A Tribe Called Quest.
You’ve probably already heard a couple of hits from Finnish singer songwriter Alma without even noticing, such as Dye My Hair and Chasing Highs. This musical powerhouse brings her bright neon style and dance/pop hits to Bestival five years after having wowed the Finnish X-Factor placing fifth. She’s not completely under the radar having signed to Universal, but is certainly a very bright (neon) star on her way to chart domination.
Often championed and produced by Toddla T, Coco brings more Yorkshire charm to the grime scene and has been grafting the last few years and making music since he was 13. After attracting attention from his 1Xtra Boxing Day Fire in the Booth in 2015, his recent releases, UP!, a jump up steel pan ode to Notting Hill Carnival, and Ingredients, a more moody EP featuring Scrufizzer, show he’s still on an upwards trajectory no doubt garnering more fans throughout 2017. Check out his remix of Big n Serious featuring AJ Tracey and Nadia Rose.
Invaders of the Future
Invaders of the Future stage will showcase a whole host of future stars such as indie rock and rollers Black Foxxes & soothing Scottish songstresses Honeyblood. So be sure to hang out at this stage if you want to listen to up and coming bands!
Wander down to the Caravanserai stage for a magical experience and out of this world bands. Put on by the legend that is DJ Chris Tofu MBE and Global Local, this stage certainly packs a punch with unique acts The Ska Vengers, a New Delhi based band who fuse Ska, Dub, Punk, Rap and Jazz.
Wayward will perform at the Desperadoes Club House as part of Sunday Best Records’ night hosted by Bestival and Sunday Best founder, Rob Da Bank.
Bestival of course is all about the fun and experience so be sure to get your disco dancing shoes on and try out some fun Disco Yoga, before on Sunday heading to see Hoxton Radio’s Disco Freaks at 11pm at Club Dada.
