Review :: Farr Festival 2018

From humble beginnings in 2009, Farr Festival knows what it’s doing. Located in Bygrave Woods, near Baldock, just half an hour away from Central London, Farr has evolved from a small gathering of like-minded friends into one of the UK’s leading electronic music festivals. With record breaking temperatures in the UK right now, it’s an exciting time to be at any festival.

Being one of the UK’s last standing boutique dance music festivals, Farr always guarantees a hedonistic escape soundtracked by an eclectic medley of producers, selectors and performers. The dance scene itself attracts hedonists on every level. Whatever your love, whatever your high. The crowd are on a level. Driven by the music. Driven by the buzz.

Scotland’s biggest festival finished off an incredible sun drenched weekend at Glasgow Green as Arctic Monkeys made their comeback in a UK festival exclusive.

As the sun went down, Arctic Monkeys graced the TRNSMT main stage with a generous set – a varied track list from previous albums, as well as promoting the brand new ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’. Fans went mental as Alex Turner brought pal Miles Kane to the stage for 505, and we saw tracks such as Arabella, Knee Socks and I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, with an unreal encore of Star Treatment, From The Ritz to the Rubble and R U Mine?

Curated by Rinse FM, Smirnoff House will feature an all-female line-up, with hosts Julie Adenuga and Emerald joined by artists including Lady Leshurr, Quay Dash, Bad Gyal, Paigey Cakey, Trillary Banks, Barely Legal and Work It DJs.

We all know the disparity is real – FACTS, a bi-annual study of festival lineups across the UK and Europe by Female:Pressure, showed that in 2017 women still only accounted for 19% of festival headliners. Stepping off the train, Brighton’s sea breeze instantly lifts your spirits. The colourful city comes to life in the sunshine as crowds of delegates and media flock towards Jubilee Square. After breezing through accreditation and dropping our bags at a quirky Airbnb, we head straight to the end of the pier where Scottish punk band LUCIA are serving up a frantic set, with a punchy attitude.
