When it comes to a fully immersive and creative festival, there don’t come many more dedicated to building incredible sets and themes like Boomtown Fair does. The Hampshire based festival is back 9-13th August 2017 with another incredible chapter 9, a remodel of its Bang Hai Palace and a Wild West theme.
Little rival Boomtown as it offers a full immersive, theatrically led experience, so you really get swept up in the festival and its eclectic line-up across folk, dub, soul, funk reggae, world, drum and bass. With 60,000 people there is something for everyone with a family friendly area and some of the most insane sets for raving you’ve ever experienced!
The Oldtown is one of the most intricately designed districts reminiscent of shanty streets and pirate ports. Gypsy-jazz and Balkan beats swirl round the streets from the likes of Gypsy Ska Orquestra, Los Colorados and Sonido Vegetal – giving you a truly international experience. Check out the Oldtown Spotify playlist below.
Amongst the Oldtown’s street venues, The Inconvenience Superstore (BANG HAI PLC) has seen a huge upgrade with a Job Centre doling out menial tasks, Granmda’s Living Room serving up Battenburg and beats and Postal Posse encouraging opening of stranger’s letters! Truly wonderful and surreal…
For the raving crew there are plenty of exciting sets like a 3 hour one from My Nu Leng and TQD consisting of Royal-t, DJ Q and Flava D as well as Redlight, Alix Perez and a rare sighting of dub step legend Rusko! Other big names on the bill include Frank Turner, Newton Faulkner, Ziggy Marley, Toots & The Maytals, Giles Peterson and you heard it here.. The Wurzels!
