Haim picked up the award for Best International Band at the VO5 NME Awards 2018 held at the O2 Academy in Brixton, London, on Wednesday 14th February.
And the award for best acceptance speech also goes to Haim! The girls’ totally inspiring speech gave us all the feels. Championing women in music, Este Haim said: “To anyone that identifies as a girl, when you walk into a guitar shop, or a sound check, or a recording studio – do not let anyone there intimidate you, or make you feel like you don’t belong there. Because you do belong there.”
NME readers voted in their thousands to champion their favourite artists, music moments and more with a host of female artists coming out on top for categories as varied as: NME Icon (Shirley Manson), Best Track (Charli XCX), Best International Solo Artist (Lorde), Best New Artist (Stefflon Don), Best Music Video (The Big Moon), Best Music Film (Lady Gaga) and the Under The Radar Award (Pale Waves).
