The rumours have been crazy for months. Tonight Adele officially revealed live on stage in London, during her show at The O2, that she will headline Glastonbury 2016. Emily Eavis: What a great honour it is to have the wonderful Adele confirmed for this year’s Saturday night headline spot!

Adele’s latest album, 25, has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide. ADELE ON THE PYRAMID STAGE MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! Adele’s announcement joining Muse and Coldplay means that Glastonbury 2016 is officially an all-British headline bill.

Adele has tried to throw off rumours in the past, claiming: I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury, the crowds are too big – I don’t know if I could do it. I went this year to watch Kanye and I literally just crapped my pants on the size of the audience. It was pretty insane.

Let’s hope she doesn’t literally crap her pants on stage!

Tonight, according to the NME, Adele told the audience: I wanted to do it last year, but my record wasn’t ready. And the people who say I am too boring to headline, you’re more f**king boring for moaning about me headlining.

Yes Adele, we agree.

Glastonbury Festival 2016 runs from 22nd – 26th June at the site’s home of Somerset’s Worthy Farm – tickets sold out in record-breaking time once again, with further allocations expected in a resale in the spring. Good luck getting your hands on a pair.
