Beyonce delivers sixth studio album, ‘Lemonade’
After months of speculation, Beyonce – Lemonade premiered in the early hours of Sunday morning on HBO in the form of a visual album. This hour-long special allowed Bey to debut her sixth studio album, whereby she turns her attention to marriage and infidelity, leaving us all wondering whether hubby Jay Z has cheated or not.
Lemonade takes you on a journey of grief with sections focused on Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness, Accountability, Reformation, Forgiveness, Resurrection, Hope and Redemption, all of which are pieced to together by incredible visuals and a voiceover from the lady herself, reading poetry by Warsan Shire.
Hidden messages aside, let’s talk about the incredible artists featured on the album. Lemonade’s credits are a crazy 3105 words long – who didn’t work on this album?? Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, James Blake and The Weeknd to name just a few. Plus Major Lazer mastermind Diplo, Mike Will Made It, Mike Dean, Ezra Koenig and more worked on tracks such as the infectious “Hold Up”.
Lemonade was released exclusively on Tidal, however is now available on iTunes and Amazon, so there’s no excuse for not listening to this absolute masterpiece. We’ve literally had it on repeat for the last 24 hours, desperately wishing we could call up Beyonce to get some answers to this never-ending list of questions we now have!
With her Formation World Tour kicking off later this week, we can’t wait to see how she performs the new record and to see what she has in store for us when she hits the UK this summer. Both Bey and Kendrick are playing in London on Saturday 2nd July, which leaves us questioning a potential ‘Freedom’ performance? We sure hope so!
