Co-curated by Gilles Peterson, his label Brownswood and radio station Worldwide FM, We Out Here’s eclectic programme pays tribute to the global jazz scene and the club culture it inspires.
The event will take place on the much-loved Abbots Ripton site, the former home of Secret Garden Party, and will be the first public festival to be staged there since 2017. Tickets are available here.
Leading the charge for We Out Here 2019 comes saxophonist Gary Bartz who’ll be performing an exclusive setlist compiled in conjunction with Gilles Peterson. Spiritual jazz icon Idris Ackamoor will also play live along with Shabaka Hutchings who joins Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming.
Not just a platform for the well-established, We Out Here invites UK jazz stars Kokoroko, Moses Boyd and London staple Steam Down Orchestra to the programme. Kojey Radical and Children of Zeus are set to present their brand of conscious UK hip-hop also.
Proving jazz’s far-reaching influence, We Out Here’s electronic billing showcases the artists and producers whose soul and rhythm is felt through their selections. A new school of electronic artists, Call Super, Objekt, Josey Rebelle and Skee Mask.
The festival is also proud to welcome those who paved its way including the likes of Theo Parrish, Francois K and Mike Dunn. Other highlights include reggae from Channel One Soundsystem and Dennis Bovell.
Food, drink, wellbeing activities, discussion and discovery sessions and family activities is soon to be announced.
A range of camping options are on offer from glamping to a quiet site for families. Weekend camping is included with weekend tickets. Tickets are now on sale.
