From the outset, Gorgon City – together with their touring family – begin to define everything we crave from a live set. Here’s a group at the forefront of the electronic dance movement. The North London Duo sound-tracked everyone’s summer, and we gotta thank them for that.
Predictable of any Manchester crowd – be them slightly on the young side – they’re absolutely mad for it. Black Butter are killing it. Feature vocalist Josh Barry will be a star in his own right. Watch out for that name appearing across festival line-ups come summer 2016.
And then there’s Lu Lu James – music runs through this girls veins. She’s the one the whole crowd are crushing on. From the moment she appears on stage we know she’s blessed with rhythm – but it’s during her rendition of ‘Imagination’ when her vocals truly shine.
Mid-set Gorgon City take us back – but with something brand new. Just like magic! The production is tight. The Ritz is on fire. The only real negative? 11.PM curfew.
And so the night comes to an explosive end – it’s here we realise ‘Ready For Your Love’ will always belong to MNEK. But if you’re looking for anyone else to give it soul and justice – Josh Barry is your guy. We gotta say it – Gorgon City and crew have been ticked off as ‘Unmissable’ for this year’s festival season.
