Rising superstar Holly Humberstone has dropped another song from her highly-anticipated second EP ‘Emotional Grim Reaper’, due later this year. Holly is an artist with a deep understanding of storytelling. Her songs translate life’s most intense and emotional scenarios in a way that typical conversations fail to capture.
Holly might be clinging to “the same old sad songs”, but she’s flying high. New single ‘The Walls Are Way Too Thin’ is a powerful, gratifying indie-pop song about removing yourself as an option.
And I’ll do my upmost to talk to youHolly Humberstone – The Walls Are Way Too Thin
But I just wanna be out—
I just wanna be out of the picture
Holly’s explains her new single was written during a time in her life where she felt like she had lost control of where she was heading, and struggling to find her place in the world.
“It was a very strange period, I’d just moved to London away from my family and all of a sudden everything that I knew to be normal had changed completely. I met some cool people but this place was pretty lonely and claustrophobic.”
Directed by frequent collaborator Raja Virdi, the blockbuster cinema inspired music video shows the 21-year-old stuck in an air vent of a burning building trying to find her way out.
Talking about the filming of her daring music video, Holly confessed: “Shooting the video was chaotic and my elbows and knees look quite different now after 8 hours of crawling back and forth. The fire blast in the vent was totally real and I’m not going to lie, I was shitting myself!“
