Coachella returns across both weekends on April 12-21 2019. So with only six months to go until the festival opens its gates for another year, reports are now starting to circulate about who will be taking charge of the headline slots. Coachella Twitter is lit right now with rumours.
Whilst nothing has been confirmed by organisers so far, US music industry website Hits Daily Double claim they’ve got the inside knowledge, with “informed sources” pointing to Kanye West, Childish Gambino and Justin Timberlake.
While Coachella has featured a mix of rock, hip-hop and electronic music since the festival’s inception in 1999, co-founder Paul Tollett said in an April 2018 interview with The Desert Sun: “The last couple years we’ve been going a little heavier on hip-hop.”
But don’t get too excited. The official festival line up won’t drop until January. And if these headliner rumours are true, you know there will be an uproar about the lack of pay parity between male and female artists, not to mention the lack of female artists in general.
