Lana Del Rey pens poignant song ‘Coachella, Woodstock In My Mind’

Last month, on her way home from Coachella, Lana Del Rey wrote a song of the same name, previewing the track on her Instagram with an explanation.

“I’m not gonna lie I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w North Korea mount,” Lana wrote. “I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual’s hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run.”

Del Rey sings about letting go and feeling for a moment she’s at Woodstock, a festival built around peace and love rather than ignorance and designer brands. “I guess I was in it / ‘Cause baby, for a minute / It was Woodstock in my mind.”

The singer’s new album ‘Lust For Life’ is “coming soon”, and expected to be released later this year. Lana Del Rey plays Lollapalooza in Paris in July, and Flow Festival in Helsinki in August.

The singer last played Glastonbury Festival back in 2014 and has not yet appeared on the line up for this year’s event. In a recent interview with the BBC, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis revealed there’s a “really big” secret on the way about this year’s festival.

“We’ve managed to keep some big secrets recently and there’s a couple more this year that haven’t gone out yet as well. There’s a really big one. I haven’t even hinted or told anyone it’s coming and we’ve managed to keep it completely quiet for the first time ever.”
