Oxford band Glass Animals pull out all the stops for their biggest headline show to date at O2 Academy Brixton

When graffiti neon pineapples sprayed on Brixton’s sidewalk pave your way to the O2 Academy, you know Glass Animals are in town. With a set list split fairly evenly between their two albums, the Oxford band pull out all the stops for their biggest show to date.

Though the project started while they were still at university five years ago, Glass Animals have toured extensively â€” using these tales as inspiration for How To Be A Human Being. On stage Glass Animals are theatrical performers, embodying the life of each song.

After walking on to Premade Sandwiches, Glass Animals jump straight in with huge bop Life Itself, met by an energetic crowd waving inflatable cactus plants and embracing the lyrics: I can’t get a job, I live with my Mom…

Dave was his typically playful self, confidently dancing across the stage beneath a giant pineapple shaped disco ball.

Set highlights included emotionally charged Agnes, a euphoric rendition of Youth, and Pork Soda — the perfect climax. Pineapples are in my head, got nobody cos I’m brain-dead…

Last night showed not only the band’s ability to make melodic and soaring riffs, but also the way they have fun with them. Glass Animals, you were trippy, awesome and random as fuck.
