The theme for Primavera Sound Barcelona / Madrid 2023 is “I’ll Be Your Mirror”. The line up for 2023 mirrors the way our listening and discovery habits have changed. Each year Spotify Wrapped exposes us all. Revealing our guilty listens and broad taste. With a high ticket price, Primavera has bravely booked the most chaotic line up in its history.
Starting out as a parody act, Aussie duo Confidence Man are billed alongside Pet Shop Boys for the opening nights of Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid.
For the main weekend, headliners vary from Blur, Halsey and Kendrick Lamar to Depeche Mode, Rosalía and Calvin Harris.
It’s Primavera Sound take-two for Bleachers and Holly Humberstone, who each had to cancel at the final moment last year due to COVID. The festival unashamedly welcomes back popular acts for a second year running, these include Caroline Polachek and Fred Again..
After drawing one of the biggest crowds of the two weekends in 2022, Fred Again.. returns, higher up the bill, with 3 albums in his arsenal. At Fred’s rate of churning out diary-style albums, it’s possible Actual Life 4 will arrive in time for festival season.
Staying true to the festival’s alternative indie roots, ‘day one’ Primavera fans will be pleased to see the likes of Ghost, Alvvays, Nation of Language and The Delgados. Further standouts across multiple genres include Turnstile, Christine & The Queens, Gabriels, Julia Jacklin, Self Esteem, Sudan Archives, Bad Gyal, Overmono, FKA Twigs, St. Vincent, Ezra Fruman and The War On Drugs.
Save some stamina for Sunday. Primavera Sound 2023 presents one of the best beach-day line ups of recent years with Diplo, Purple Disco Machine and Ben Böhmer.
