Aussie electronic dance outfit Rufus deliver euphoric set at London’s O2 Forum
When there’s no place you’d rather be on a Thursday evening than in London for a sold out show with Sydney dance trio Rufus.
Comprised of members Tyrone, Jon and James – Rufus, originally RUFUS DU DOL, first made their break in 2013, when their debut album, ATLA , reached number one in Australia.
Fast forward to 2018 and the electronic dance outfit are making waves around the world. Part of the Foreign Family collective, Rufus have spent lots of time in America – largely influenced by the desert landscapes of California and their experiences on the road.
The lights are just as important as the music. Rufus have honed a sound that is instantly recognisable. Blissed out glossy production paired with uplifting melodies and Tyrone’s breathy vocals.
The captivating set was filled with an emotive mix of songs from their previous LP Bloom (2016), along with new singles ‘No Place’ and ‘Underwater’ from their highly anticipated third LP SOLACE.
Banger after banger. Standout tracks included the iconic ‘Tonight’, big-hearted anthems ‘Brighter’, ‘You Were Right’ and ‘Innerbloom’ – while latest single ‘Underwater’ brought a dose of melancholy to the evening.
Everywhere you looked people were climbing on shoulders, singing every word, united by the feel-good lyrics and how euphoric much of it felt.
With the rise of live electronic acts, such as label mates ODESZA and Golden Features, we’ll be seeing a lot more from Rufus on the festival circuit for summers to come.
