Swooning over Tom Misch at The Jazz Café for AMP Sounds 2018

Celebrating all the music that Annie Mac loves, AMP SOUNDS encompasses nine shows over the course of one month in three venues: The Jazz Café, The Roundhouse and KOKO.

Last night saw the launch of Annie Mac’s AMP SOUNDS at The Jazz Café. The evening followed the theme of the more recently established AMP Collected nights, showcasing some of the best live acts of the moment in one of London’s most intimate venues.

Stepping up was South London artist Denzel Himself who filled in for Tom Tripp. With only three hours to prepare for his set, Denzel brought a raw energy to The Jazz Café with his punk edge and distinctively British flow. Definitely one to watch.

Next up was London four-piece ISLAND, an alternative guitar band whose boisterous, dark and sweetly melodic sound takes you on a shimmering journey. The way things are going, it won’t be long before ISLAND are headlining festival stages across the UK.

Tom Misch has music running through his veins. It runs through the family also, Tom brought out Laura Misch on the saxophone during ‘Follow’ – before Polly Misch graced the stage for Tom’s new single ‘Movie’ (premiered recently as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World on BBC Radio 1).

Misch has a soulful voice, but it’s used sparingly as he spends the majority of his time jamming on stage, a huge grin stretching across his face from ear to ear. He’s enjoying himself and it’s infectious.

Tom finishes up on ‘Watch Me Dance’, from his summer Reverie EP; everyone in the crowd is dancing. The band return for a special encore with unreleased track ‘We’ve Come So Far’ – a taste of what’s to come from Tom’s debut album ‘Geography’, out April 6th.

Big love to AMP SOUNDS for helping to unearth and push forward the headliners of tomorrow. With Denzel Himself, ISLAND and Tom Misch, Annie Mac curated a genre-bending night with each artist unified by their blatant passion for music.

AMP SOUNDS returns to The Jazz Café on Thursday 8th February for a sold out show with MoStack, Tom Grennan and Avelino. Other artists performing later in the month include Billie Elish, Mella Dee, Dream Wife and Jessie Ware.

AMP SOUNDS culminates in a closing party at The Roundhouse on Saturday 24th February. Everyone attending a show at the Jazz Café or KOKO across the month will gain pre-sale access. The secret bill will see Annie take to the stage once again alongside the best artists from AMP past, present and future.
